App-Tek has a range of gas detection instruments currently under development
for the underground coal mining industry in Australia with the OdaLog
Monitor SS already being approved by the Department of Mineral Resources
in New South Wales for Hydrogen Sulphide, Nitrogen Dioxide, and Nitric
Oxide gases.
The Monitor SS has a Stainless Steel outer skin (hence the terminology
SS), an audible and flashing top alarm, a large LCD display with backlight,
and can record up to 30,000 gas readings.
The H2S, NO2, NO, CO, and O2 versions of the OdaLog Monitor SS use
drycell batteries which have a normal operational life of over three
months before requiring replacement.
The OdaLog Monitor SS in Methane format will run for over 16 hours
on drycell batteries or for over 12 hours if rechargeable batteries
are fitted.
The Monitor SS is able to be hung as an area monitor using its purpose
designed stainless steel handle and this feature will be particularly
useful on the new methanometers.
An intermittently blinking light option is inbuilt so that the monitor's
underground location and operation may easily be verified from a distance.
For those mining personnel who need to carry the OdaLog Monitor SS
with them, a sturdy leather pouch is available to enable the instrument
to be attached to a miner's belt. |
